Monday Group
#

  • Wyz (2nd level goblin wizard): A cunning but inexperienced goblin wizard, he considers his party to be recalcitrant minions.

  • Knutella: A member of the Monday group who has proven resilient in the face of the barrowmaze’s dangers.

  • Morrigan (1st level thief): Originally from Threshold, she is in Helix hiding from her family and the law, not necessarily in that order. Now a member of the thieves’ guild in Ironguard Motte.

  • Alandor (1st level roustabout): An old man, once stricken by plague, whose wife has recently passed. He seeks his fortune or his death in the barrowmaze… or perhaps both.

  • Perch (1st level warrior): A dwarf who wears a fish-head helmet, now in plate mail armor.

  • Helfen (cleric): A cleric of Fortuna.

  • Keelgo (dwarf): A dwarf from the Outriders of Uleck.

  • Merrythane (human): A former tax evader who saved exactly 100 silver coins before staking his life in the barrowmaze. Wiry and sharp-featured, he assesses every situation like a ledger — calculating risk, weighing reward, and always keeping one eye on the exit. Handy with a sling.

Hired Labor

  • Vorn (hireling): A former barber who now digs holes, carries things, and tries very hard not to die. Not an adventurer, and he wants to be clear about that. The hazard pay is the only reason he keeps signing up.
  • Cade (halfling hireling): A halfling caravan guard between Helix and Ironguard Motte who picks up barrow work when the merchants aren’t moving. Stronger and smarter than Vorn, and they both know it. He and Vorn share a practical outlook on survival that has kept them both alive so far.

Tuesday Group

  • Bancroft (2nd level cleric of Sylvanus): Born a farmer, he has almost everything going for him. Strong, quick on his feet, wise and friendly… if only he had a brain. His good nature helps him get along, and his friends eventually convinced him to seek his fortune in the Barrowmaze. There, he found that his connection with plants, animals, and nature blossomed into worship of Sylvanus. He wields sword and shield, and now wears plate mail purchased in Ironguard Motte.
  • Irulan (1st level half-orc fighter): A practical, direct half-orc swordswoman who reads tarot cards before each expedition into the barrows. She’s self-aware enough to know wisdom isn’t her strong suit, but makes up for it with grit and a refusal to stay down. She can hold her liquor, she’ll haggle with rival adventurers to stay on their good side, and she once slept through a zombie attack on the tavern. Currently envious of Bancroft’s plate mail and determined to get her hands on a magic weapon by any means necessary.

  • Kafeelia (2nd level dwarven fighter, warhammer): Kafeelia has survived in the barrowmaze so far by avoiding notice.

  • Riyou (1st level halfling thief): Once a cultist, now a thief. Her cult tried to murder her.

  • Batdwarf (2nd level dwarven ranger), previously known as Gravelgnasher: After a near-fatal encounter with human bandits in the barrowmaze, this dwarf has sworn eternal vengeance against criminals. He lives in a small cave outside of Helix.

  • Toru (halfling): A halfling with a fascination for frogs.

  • Bermek Halfblade (dwarf): A pragmatic dwarf who digs while others wander off and die. Stocky and dirt-streaked, he sticks to the shovel because it’s honest work and it keeps him alive. Brother to Darmek.
  • Darmek (dwarf): Brother to Bermek, but the sharper of the two. He’s the one who sells the loot, buys the crowbars, and figures out how to pry open the next barrow. Resourceful and calculating, he profits from other people’s mistakes.

#

  • Mazzah (high level wizard NPC): Grumpy, unpleasant, but willing to inspect and identify artifacts recovered from the barrowmaze for a fee.

Ironguard Motte
#

  • Hilda the smith made Perch’s armor.

Deceased
#

  • Lessa (halfling): A brave halfling who has shown compassion in the depths, notably trying to rescue a trapped dwarf from a pit. She carried a sling and has survived multiple encounters with the undead, though she bears the scars of her adventures. She was killed by a sapphire skeleton.

  • Idrivian: A warrior who wields a longsword with more enthusiasm than skill, often swinging at empty air in the heat of battle. Despite his combat difficulties, he has shown courage in facing the maze’s horrors. He was killed by skeletons.

  • Druidly (half-orc wizard): A half-orc wizard whose arcane studies had served them well. He was eaten by a pack of mimics.

  • Selfa (half-orc): A half-orc cleric, she was swarmed and killed by giant rats.
